June Birthday Girls

Two June girls turned 11 & 9.

Big Sister opted for a her gal pals for a sleepover. It turned out that most of the girls opted to go home which was not too surprising. Amara hasn't been too keen on sleepingover's much lately either. I've wondered if it's because as they get older the novelty has worn off and the idea of being tired the next day is not too appealing. Amara has expressed those sentiments. Still, she had a fun night with her friends. The highlight for Big Sis was the scavenger hunt I set up for the party. Complete with pens, markers and sloth printed journals, with rhyming clues. For cake, it was homemade cupcakes Amara and Don made complete with homemade whipped cream.

Amara has some nice friends so it's always a pleasure to have them over.

Havana opted something on a smaller and quieter scale. With Big Sister away at sleep away at camp, Havana just three friends join her for tea (then a movie and cake back home). Little Sis is not interested in big or loud. And this year, there has been struggles with friends and how to navigate things when two or more kids were together. So having a small party with three friends was just the right speed. Like Amara, Havana knows some great little people so it's a treat for me to spend time with them as well.

True to Havana style, (artistic and colorful), she opted for a rainbow birthday cake like the one she had last year! The girls, they are growing so fast. I suspect it won't be too long before they don't want all the fuss and fanfare, opting for just the presents. But for now, we love to celebrate with them in whatever way that fancies them.
