The girls and I had a lovey little Winter Break respite on the Northern California Coast. Far away from many humans, nestled a few miles inland, amongst the sacred redwoods, our time in Gualala was a balm for heart, soul and mind. The girls loved their time on the beach, in a sweet park, watching movies next to a wood burning stove and exploring a new and wonderful place.
I tell the girls daily how fortunate they are, how blessed we all are. We were thankful to our friend Veena, who hosted us in her new airbnb. The girls got to spend time with Veena, exploring all kinds of nooks and crannies, while Mama worked some of the days we were away, including a visit to a wildlife rescue complete zebras.
The pandemic has kept us closer to home for the most part. With the exception of a few excursions, this time at home has forced us to become more familiar with our Northern California home. A summer day trip to reservoir, new hiking spots and now this hidden gem just a few hours north on the breathing taking California Coast. Even in a pandemic, where is there much suffering and pain, there is also joy, delight, peace and beauty. Life is like that though, isn't it? Life is not black and white. There are many variables and shades in between.
