It must have been a couple of years since we went through the car wash because Havana didn't remember having driven through one (we have the car washed and detailed every few months but that entails getting out and watching.) Recently, the car needed to be cleaned so I thought it would be fun for she and I to go through.
Well, she didn't like my idea too much! Initially she got a bit freaked out; scared at the loud noises and couldn't comprehend that the water wouldn't come inside the car. Once she realized she would stay dry, her eyes lit up with curiosity and amazement as the various machines passed over. But at the end she remained firm in decision; "I didn't like that" and requested we "don't do that again." I will honor request (until gets older and more comfortable) but I have to say, it was fascinating doing something so mundane and having it turn out to be such an interesting experience. Ah, life with little people!
Sweet Havana! Eli wasn't fond of car washes at first either. :o) http://journeyleaf.typepad.com/journeyleaf/2011/03/cow.html
ReplyDeleteDespite not liking the experience at all, I think it was great that Havana remained calm throughout the ride. The thunder-like rumbling sounds can seem pretty terrifying for kids, but it’s nice that she was intrigued by it at the end. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us. All the best!
