It's official. Havana is in K (or KT as they call it in Montessori). There were many a bedtime talks leading up to the big day; I listened and asked reflective questions about how Havana felt about the end of preschool and the start of school. Havana shared with me sadness about leaving old friends behind and being both scared and excited to start K. Thankfully, she already has a few friends in her class. (And has even had some play dates in part to older siblings being friends with Big Sis). It also helped that Havana spent lots of time on the MFS campus with her sister last year. Because of this she is already comfortable on the play yard and in the school. Still, it was a big day. Havana held on to me tighter than usual while we slept last night but in the morning she kept asking, "When are we leaving?" Normal fears aside, Baby Girl was more than ready!
I know it's not wise to compare but I couldn't help but notice the stark difference between the K class where Amara (public school) attended and the one at MFS. In our old school, there was the alphabet on the wall and bee hive and bees with the kids names and that was it. The room had lots of books and some toys but mostly it was three groups of tables and a rug. Here....well what a difference....

I don't think it is a far fetch to say Baby Girl is going to learn and grow a tremendous amount this year. I feel sad how fast she is growing up but I am full with anticipation and excitement knowing I will witness her blossom so much over the year ten months.
