Geckos Up, Geckos Down

One of the girls favorite board books as wee ones was Geckos Up, Geckos Down, by Jane Gillespie, which we discovered on Oahu years ago. The book, read countless times over several years, is about the adventures of silly Hawaiian geckos from surfing to eating haupia pie.  So delightful and memorable for our family, we have the book in our keeper storage box. 

When we landed on the Big Island in January, one of the first things we saw on our first morning were those festive colored geckos. And of course, they were going up and going down and all around. Their speedy little actions triggered, as always, Don and I reciting from memory, that sweet board book. It was heartwarming to continue the memories that those little geckos have brought to us.
