First, we greeted Amara in by singing Happy Birthday when she first woke up at 6 a.m.!
Then hugs from her sister.
And presents too!
Every year I take the day off of work for the girl's birthdays. This year was no exception. In the past, we usually went somewhere special. Because Amara had school today, I picked up heavenly cupcakes in Orinda for Amara and her classmates.
Republic of Cake makes divine cupcakes and these mini ones were the perfect size for the pint size kids!
Amara's class was having their end of
school party the same day as her birthday.
So that mean even more festivities.
Amara felt shy when her classmates sang birthday wishes to her. She wouldn't even turn to face them. It's always interesting to see different sides of my girl. After six years together, I am still learning about who she is.
The celebrations continued on that night as some of our friends joined us for dinner.
The kids had a blast and at this age, eating out is a much more pleasant experience than in years prior.
Even after two rounds of Happy Birthday,
Amara still felt shy. She wouldn't even open
her eyes this time around!
....and instead focused on the cotton candy (which was thrilled to have because I normally don't go for that type of stuff.)
