Amara has been wanting to get her ears pierced a very long time. Papa said she had till wait till she was 6.
Since we were planning on going to New York just past her birthday we planned on having it done there.
Amara asked me about a dozen times if she would get them done in New York. And once we got to our cousins she brought it up to them another dozen times. (the plan was for Liz and Alaine to go with us.)
But once we finally found a place, the reality of it set in and Amara, understandably, got a big scared.
And she cried after the first piercing.
We all felt sympathetic, I mean it does hurt. But when we told her she had to have the other side done, she cracked us up the way only Amara can; "No thank you", she told us in a very serious tone.
But my girl is a warrior.
When it was all over we cheered. Amara however wouldn't even look in the mirror. I felt badly. She wanted her ears pierced so much and then she seemed to regret it.
But after a lollipop and some gently reassurance from cousin Liz Amara looked in the mirror.
And was happy!

Oh so sweet! This certainly tugs at the heart strings. It's so hard being little sometimes.
