Kailua Beach

Our family loves to spend time on the beach. Unfortunately, back home, it is usually too cold for the beach and even on warm days the water is too frigid to go in. This means our time at the beach is infrequent. We look forward to our yearly holiday to Florida where we can get in our fill of the sun and sand.

This year, we changed our winter trip for another locale. Hawaii. Since arriving, the warm sandy shores of Kailua have been our daily playground. Even in a recent storm, we ventured out between heavy rain to let our toes touch the salt water of the Pacific.

While we all love the beach, we all have our preferences of how we spend our time; Havana can spend hours digging and building sand castles; Amara likes to spend her time in the water jumping over waves and when she tires out she'll make a sand castle as well; Don likes to stay close to the kids and when he can, he'll take a swim; and I like to snorkel if that is an option, play with the kids or just lay on the sand with a book (and that hasn't happened since the kids were born!)
