Wonder of Water

Our Brownie troop recently worked on their Wonders of Water Journey at the Oakland Zoo. (read more about what the journeys are and abou the Daisies journey earlier that same day here:  http://twosmallgems.blogspot.com/2015/02/3-cheers-for-animals.html). Since I took Havana to her journey in the morning hours, Don took Amara in the afternoon. This post therefore, is a second hand account from them, and the photos were thankfully taken by Don.

The Brownies spent their time at the zoo learning about the value and importance of  conserving and perceiving water sources for both animals and humans. Don and Amara described the days as investigative and exploratory as they went for a hike to a creek for a scavenger hunt and visited some parts of the zoo and educational as they spent time in the classroom discussing what water means for all life and how it is scarce.

By all accounts (I got several texts later on from parents who said their girls loved the outing), this Scout event was a big hit. Like their younger Scout sisters earlier in the day, the girls learned crucial lessons that will help them to move forward in their life making better decisions for the planet and others. That is in part what the Scouts is about. The girls are learning leadership and a good leader is both well informed and concerned about this blessed planet and all who call it home and all that we need to continue living.
