Paseo de los Artesanos

Just a few blocks from where we were staying in Neuquen was the local artisan market. I love checking out local crafts, so while Don was out golfing, the girls and I went to explore.

It turned out to be a lovely craft market with some very interesting people. There were some beautiful handmade item sold by an eclectic range of crafts people including hippies, dreadies and the more aloof artist who barely made eye contact.

The girls went giddy over some handmade kaleidoscopes, which they bought for themselves (they brought money they have saved and could use it as they choose for their souvenirs) and we purchased a few other items for gifts and few things for our home. We also got to watch some performers sing, dance and drum. It almost felt like we were at a Rainbow Gathering. Who knew we'd find that in Neuquen?!

Mate cups inna  natural style! (we took home one of those because t hey reminded me of the I-tal calabash from Jamaica)

Argentina is famous for it's leather.
We took home a small, round basket from this weaver.

Argentina is also well known for it's silver.
